The Clinical Observation in 6 Cases of the Ileal ureter

Abstract
The isolated ileal leap often provides a satisfactory solution to the problem of extensive ureteral defect. We have experienced this in 5 cases of diseased ureters replaced by isolated ileal segment at St. Mary¢¥s hospital from Jan. 1971 to Oct. 1979.
The results obtained were summarized as follows:
1) 4 cases of the disease using an ileal segment were renal tuberculosis multiple ureteral stricture, 1 case was the bilateral ureteral obstruction due to metastatic carcinoma and 1 case was the ectopic double ureter.
2) The length of ileal segment to be used for ureteral defect were from 12cm to 20cm.
3) We have experienced 3 cases of complications which were acute renal failure, sepsis and urinary leakage.
4) 2 cases with high serum creatinine level (above 4mg/dl) were dead due to acute renal failure and sepsis. I case was undergone nephrectomy because of uncontrolled urinary leakage.
